OUR mission statement

MADE ON THE LEFT was founded in 2008 by independent designers to support Western Australian creative talent. We hold bi-annual handmade craft markets to showcase local designers.

Being on the left hand side of Australia no longer

means you'll be at a disadvantage.

Our aim is to support all creative designers and events showcasing independent labels. MOTL is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organisation. You may wonder why we promote other markets besides MOTL; it’s because it’s not about us, its about you; the buyers and sellers of indie wares. Here at the blog, you’ll discover up to date information about our latest market, the low-down on some of Perth’s emerging talents, other opportunities for artists and designers and a little bit of fun stuff too. It’s all right here… welcome!

KickstART Youth Markets

Propel Youth Arts are looking for young artists and designers to sell their hand-made products and wares at the KickstART Youth Markets. Expressions of interests are now open – apply online now Applications close 21st March 2011.

The KickstART Youth Markets is the flagship event for Own It! National Youth Week 2011 in Western Australia. Comprised of market stalls, sculptures, live performances, interactive activities and an art trail, the KickstART Youth Markets is a great opportunity for young people to exhibit their wares to their peers and the general public. The markets themselves will be made up of stalls with young people selling products, as well as information booths by specific youth-focused organisations.

The KickstART Youth Markets will be held on Saturday 2nd April from 10am to 4pm in the Perth Cultural Centre. Large crowds are expected. The KickstART Youth Markets is proudly supported by the Western Australian Government, Youthbeyondblue, Lotterywest, EPRA, C.D Dodd Scrap Metal Recyclers and Propel Youth Arts WA.

To have a stall at the KickstART Youth Markets:
• You must be aged between 12-25 years of age.
• If you are under 16, you must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
• The goods must either be hand-made (by you or a group of young people) or vintage.
• Successful stall holders must provide a deposit of $30 ($20 for Propel members) which will be returned to them on the day (for further information see Fees).
Please note: Stall holders will be selected to ensure the markets has a variety of products and isn’t inundated by any particular genre of goods.
