Just for Fun : Supporting local WA film-makers

Hello Lovelies!!!

The talented Perth film maker, Ella Wright, is in pre-production on her latest project, a short film called George Jones and the Giant Squid.
The Writers and Directors are the guys that brought us "This is Perth" which they made in their spare time, now its time to bring their satire to the big screen!

It's not long until filming is underway. You are invited to be part of the action!!! 100 extras are sorely needed to acheive an important scene in the film to be shot in our beloved Fremantle.

The main thing is to find out who of you/friends/family can make it. Can you??? If you can please email Ella (ella_wright@hotmail.com)for deets.

Your appearance will be kindly rewarded with beer and sausages, and the wam fuzzy feeling of knowing you chipped in.

See you there!

Ever wondered what happens to the things you throw out in your rubbish?
An exhibition by emerging WA designer Holly Pepper is about creating new beginnings for the discarded by-products of our lavish western lifestyles. On her return from a year volunteering in Samoa, Holly was struck by the materialistic WA lifestyle and was determined to show people how useful the objects we discard can be.
Holly invites you to come and view the results at her maiden solo exhibition at the Free Range Gallery from November 18 to 23.
The exhibition will showcase a range of original and thought-provoking textile sculptural works. Most of the pieces have been inspired by the re-use of locally sourced industrial waste, to create bold tactile designs.
Holly would like to thank local not-for-profit REMIDA for its work recycling useable waste products, which has been of great value to her. She also spends countless hours scavenging among council roadside collections, op-shops, tip shops and friend’s chuck-out piles.
Media and public are welcome to attend the exhibition opening from 6pm on November 18.
Tread lightly community forum
Sunday November 21
An open forum discussion will be hosted within the gallery space to discuss sustainability and design. This is a good opportunity to talk more in depth with Holly and other local artists about sustainable art.

Who do you want to be when you grow up?

Well we want to be like Finders Keepers. An awesome, super-organised, frankie-sponsored indie design market held over in the eastern states. They're got a great opportunity/comp for all you visual artists, we suggest you have a crack at it!

Currently under the working title ON THE WALL, the artworks will be displayed at CarriageWorks within the foyer for the duration of the Sydney markets and will celebrate Leeloo’s ongoing mission to support independent Australian artists. Artwork will be for sale during the exhibition and there may be the possibility of selling prints of the artworks also.

Midland Arts & Craft Market

Hey All, a quick note about the arrival of the Midland Arts & Craft Market.

In their words...

"Through the City of Swan, we are very keen to support new and emerging artists and designers and expose your creative talent to the people of the eastern region of Perth. A region that is ripe and waiting for your input.
The Midland Arts & Craft Market is a Community Project with the Rotary Club of Midland; and Rotary will be the group you interact with most if you want to be part of this exciting new monthly event on our cultural calendar.
Held the third Saturday of every month, the market is in the beautiful grounds of the Juniper Gardens, adjacent to the Midland Gate Shopping Centre, apartments, new restaurants and cafes – also on the doorstep of our arts centre.
If you would like to be involved in our arts programs come to the Midland Junction Arts Centre, or make a time with me to talk/meet/explore. We will be working hard to profile the various artists featured in the markets, which will include media releases, possible exhibition opportunities, production of promo material, and other ideas not yet thought of… I’m sure you’ll have the best ideas.
hope you will consider an adventure in the Swan region, and let us support your creative practice! "
