OUR mission statement

MADE ON THE LEFT was founded in 2008 by independent designers to support Western Australian creative talent. We hold bi-annual handmade craft markets to showcase local designers.

Being on the left hand side of Australia no longer

means you'll be at a disadvantage.

Our aim is to support all creative designers and events showcasing independent labels. MOTL is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organisation. You may wonder why we promote other markets besides MOTL; it’s because it’s not about us, its about you; the buyers and sellers of indie wares. Here at the blog, you’ll discover up to date information about our latest market, the low-down on some of Perth’s emerging talents, other opportunities for artists and designers and a little bit of fun stuff too. It’s all right here… welcome!

Made on the Left Winter market announcement!

It may only be Autumn but to us at Made on the Left it feels like Christmas, having just received the gift of this market’s lifetime – a wonderfully supportive partnership with the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia! This incredibly beautiful building has become Made on the Left’s new home and we couldn’t be more chuffed.  First of all we'd like to say a massive thank you to the staff at the State Theatre Centre for offering up their stunning venue for you and all your customers to enjoy, and also for answering our endless queries.

Now for the next big announcement – July market applications are now open!  So if you live in Western Australia and design and manufacture your own products within WA, apply away!  Unfortunately we’re still unable to open applications up to food vendors, as well as vintage and second hand products.

This will be our first market at our new location, so it’ll all be a test to see how we can get the best out of the theatre.  With this in mind, we welcome constructive criticism, but please remember that we are all unpaid volunteers who do what we do out of love for WA and the unique designers who live here.  For some volunteers this will also be their first market, so please be patient with the process.

So go forth and apply!  Applications close 5pm, 14th of June.

Email Admin with any questions that haven’t been answered here or on the Application Form.

Please note: ensure your images are less than 1 mb each or the application will be rejected. Not sending in images and asking us to search through the internet for them will greatly reduce your chances of being accepted.
