Fresh Prints 2016 Stallholder Call Out

Back for its second year, Fresh Prints is a market fair for zines, independent publishing, small press, artist books, comics and printed works in Northbridge.
Creatives, organisations and individuals are invited to hold a stall and be part of this celebration of all things ink and paper. The day will feature creative workshops, storytelling area for kids, films on the Piazza screen and more!

Date: Saturday 16 April 2016
Time: 12 - 5:30pm
Location: Northbridge Piazza, cnr James and Lake Streets

Stall spaces are free, however places are limited so get in quick to secure your space. Please keep in mind that the majority of your products should be related to ink and paper somehow.

• Full space (one trestle table with two chairs).
• Half space (SHARED trestle table with another stall holder, with one chair each).
• Shared stallholders will be sharing the same table, so please keep this in mind for your display.
• No lighting or access to power provided.

Angove Street Festival

The Angove St Festival is back again! With an eclectic mix of entertainment, music, food, culture and family fun, this one-day event attracts over 50,000 people each year. Angove Street Festival celebrates all that is North Perth – the award-winning cafes, restaurants, retailers and cultural diversity that create the unique community surrounding Angove Street. 

There will be a selection of Made on the Left stallholders and the Golden Days Vintage Markets will be back to ensure an interesting range of goods will be available to buy. 

An amazing festival is planned with a trapeze act, baby animal farm, Rosemount Music Stage, sustainable gardening advice, a school fete will be run by the North Perth Primary School with book sales, cake stalls and lucky dips for the kids, not to mention a range of food from all corners of the world.

Sponthanaeity - KickstART best stall winner

Each year at the Propel KickstART Youth Markets, we choose one of the stallholders to have a free place at our winter market. This year, the judges chose Sponthanaeity by Hanaé Myer. Here is an interview with Hanaé and make sure you come along to our market on Sunday 26th July at the Perth Concert Hall to check out her work in person!

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi there! My name's Hanaé Meyer, I'm 23, and I started the Sponthanaeity stall in early 2015. I have a background in fine art, a BA in Creative Writing (yes, not only is that a real degree, but it's also one I'm very passionate about), and presently I'm undertaking honours at Curtin. I grew up in a very arty household, and have helped out with my parents' market stall, mthreeidea, for the past five years. I've lived in most of the states at some point, but for the past thirteen years I've called Perth home, and I absolutely love it. 

Where did your business name come from?
Clearly I put my degree in creative writing to good use when I decided on my business name, combining my first name with the word "spontaneity."
I'm always having new ideas pop into my head at the most inconvenient of moments (you wouldn't believe the number of times I've left a room mid-sentence to find a scrap of paper to write some of them down), so that's where the spontaneity part comes from! There's a bit of irony in the name though, as most of my art actually takes a really long time to produce.

What sort of items do you make and sell?
I do a bit of everything really, but I love to work with paper and books. Most of my work will either be about books or made from books.



The collage pieces are a labour of love. I love old books, reading, and collecting novels to add to the ever-growing "to-read" pile, so when I see a beautiful antique or vintage book that has been battered about and damaged, I love giving it a new life as a work of art when it can no longer be enjoyed or appreciated for its intended purpose. I particularly enjoy working with paper from the 1800's and early 1900's. The paper is so thick and textured, and the golds and browns which evolve as the paper ages look beautiful against the white backgrounds. If I have some gold gilt-edged pages to play with, even better! The gilt will just glow when light hits it.

I use vintage atlases to create fun pinwheels (even if there's no breeze, they're an interesting abstract geography lesson).

I also create what I call Literary Prints. These are designs which look like the covers of popular book titles from a distance, but up close, you'll see they're composed of quotes and lines from that particular title.

At the moment I'm creating a series of watercolour drawings of vintage typewriters, cameras, and various objects that have captured my attention.

What do you find is the biggest challenge when starting to sell your art?
The biggest challenge has been trying to value my time and work! I'm so used to creating art just for myself, my parents, or giving things away to friends, so when it comes to markets I have complete strangers tell me to value my time and skills more! I've got my head around it now, but it's something I have to keep reminding myself because I really enjoy what I do and sometimes forget that it's also my only income!

What do you find is the best form of marketing for your business?
Meeting people face to face at markets is fantastic, and I enjoy being able to communicate my ideas on the spot and actually have a conversation with customers or get feedback.
As for marketing my business from home, even though I was late to the party, and only joined this year, I love Instagram! I really enjoy photographing close-up details of the antique and vintage paper pieces, so it's a great way for me to share the joy of these beautiful old books. I'm also on Facebook, which works really well for connecting with customers, taking orders from all over the place, and sharing market details with Perth locals.

What are your hopes for Sponthanaeity in the future?
I want to create large-scale works using the salvaged book paper and hopefully have a small exhibition, but until then, I hope to get out to lots of markets around Perth and continue meeting fellow book/art/typewriter lovers! A long-term goal is to take a working holiday adventure on the high seas with a sketch pad, water colours, and a camera, combining my art and writing to document my journey, turning it into a big creative project!

Top five tips for young artists who are thinking of starting to sell their art:
1. Embrace your individuality! Trends will come and go, and you might feel really, really, REALLY tempted to join the bandwagon, but just remember that no one will draw, paint, sculpt, build, write, or create in the exact same way as you, so use that to your advantage. 
2. If you're going to join the market scene, be prepared for late nights, early mornings, and minimal sleep. And never run your market stall on an empty stomach... you will get cranky. 
3. Value your talent! Some days it will seem like no one you know appreciates the effort you put into your work, then a stranger will come along and say the most lovely things about your art, and you'll be on cloud nine all day.
4. Engage with your customers/audience. I find it so disappointing if I'm looking at a stall and the person there is more interested in their phone than telling me about their awesome artwork!
5. Keep track of your ideas, notes, and plans as you go (even if it's on little scraps of paper!). There's nothing worse than having a great idea get away from you!

An opportunity exists for designers, craftspeople, and gourmets to exhibit and sell their products during the Stretch Arts Festival in Festival Square, presented by Act-Belong-Commit.

Made on the Left KickstART Markets workshop

Join Made on the Left for a workshop and networking session as a part of the KickstART Festival! Palmyra Western Farmers Market Mother's Day Pop Shop Art/Craft Market is on the morning of Sunday 27th April from 8am – 12pm. This will be held alongside their weekly Farmers Market. Stalls are from $50. Suitcase rummage

Suitcase Rummage is a mini scaled market without the hassle. Its about bringing a suitcase (or two!) filled to the brim with your goods and treats. You can be a part of the Rummage experience by selling wares e.g. vintage, artwork, bric-a-brac, clothing, books, jewellery, seconds, hand-made, shoes, records, music, badges, cards, handmade paper…you name it! You must register to sell your wares and you will then be contacted with further information.

The very first Suitcase Rummage in Western Australia will be a part of Midlandia – the Fringe Festival's Midland location in the beautiful old arts centre!

Fringe World night markets

Fringe World 2015 returns to Perth from Friday 23 January to Sunday 22 February 2015. For the first time, they are looking for creative artisan stallholders to trade in their bustling precinct at the Pleasure Garden, Russell Square in Northbridge for the duration of the Festival.

Fringe World Festival attracts over 370,000+. The Night Markets will form an integral part of the Festival environment and provide a colourful village style atmosphere amongst a range of performances, events and eateries. 

They are looking for stallholders who sell vintage clothing, trinkets, DIY experience and local artisan wares promising an eclectic product mix with emphasis on the innovative, fun and unique.

TRADING DATES AND TIMES

Fringe World Night Markets will operate everyday of the Festival, Monday to Sunday. 

The hours of operation are:

Monday – Thursday: 5pm – 11pm

Friday: 5pm – 1am

Saturday: 3pm – 1am

It's not long now until 'Something Different' happens in Leederville!

'Something Different' is an exciting new three day event for people who love to chill out, eat, drink and shop beautiful hand-crafted artisan goods in an exciting festival atmosphere. Featuring market stalls, workshops, food, beverages and room to relax, this event will provide 'Something Different' for the discerning Perth fun-lover of any age! This inaugural event will feature 40+ individual artists and and makers, all Etsy sellers. Applications are now open for the Summer Night Markets in Perth Cultural Centre.

OnWilliam in conjunction with MRA will again host December night markets for the fourth year running. This marketplace has gained a reputation as a must visit pre-Christmas market, and this year will be extended to two consecutive nights.

Something Different – a pop up event in Leederville

This event is presented by Etsy Australia and run by volunteers of the Etsy WA Street Team.

WHAT IS THE EVENT?
Something Different – a pop up event in Leederville
7th - 9th November 2014
             Friday 5pm - 9pm
             Sat & Sun 10am - 4pm
The Leederville Arena (corner of Newcastle and Oxford Streets, Leederville)

This inaugural event will have 40 individual artists and makers, all selling their own products. The focus is to EAT, SHOP, DRINK! 

Stallholders will be selected by an Etsy jury, based on application merit. All products must be designed, created and produced in Western Australia. You must have an Etsy shop to apply. Categories of sellers may include: fine art, home decor, stationery, jewellery, ceramics, furniture, clothing, vintage, children's or infant's products, beauty, fashion and accessories, packaged food products (no fresh food - sorry), plants & gardenware. Each allocated stall will be of an area approximately 2 x 1.5m and consist of a trestle table, table cloth and name sign (all supplied). They are able to offer a very affordable stall price of $40 per day (a total of $120 for the event), thanks to the generous support of several sponsors.

It's a great opportunity, especially if you have never had a market stall before!

artMarket @ Deanmore

artMarket @ Deanmore is happening on Sunday December 7th.

artMarket at Deanmore is an annual fundraising event for the Deanmore Primary School in Karrinyup and will focus on sustainability - local, handmade and artisan, up-cycled, recycled or organic.

Along with the artisan crafted market stalls the event includes a children's art competition (smArt), a professional art show gallery, buskers, gourmet picnics, demonstrations of the sustainable kind along with loads of old-school style games and activities for the kids. There is strong support from the local community including sponsorship from local businesses, drop-ins from an AFL team and even a MasterChef contestant who will be presenting cooking demonstrations!

A market stall for the day will cost $30 and a donation of your product for a raffle.

Each vendor space is under the classroom verandas and includes a bench or chair.  Vendors are asked to supply their own table or display.

Rumble in the Jumble

Rumble in the Jumble is a jumble sale, mini market and fundraiser. 

Sellers, snap up a ‘Jumble Plot’ and trade off your pre-loved goods. Buyers, get down early for a morning coffee and pick up a vintage gem or bargain. There's space for the made-with-love market retailer and a spot for kids to get gluey in the craft corner too! Expect music, snags, coffee and plenty of trawling treasure! 

The event will occur indoors at two large warehouses in Morley, located between Coventry village and the BP station. (Cnr Wellington Road and Walter Rd.)
ll spaces for the swap meet will need to be pre-purchased prior to your arrival. All spaces have been sectioned into 3mx3m spaces.

There are 2 types of stalls available for selling your items.
Jumble Plots are $15.00 for a 3m x 3m space. Plots are for sellers wishing to offload used (but in good condition) items, clothing, furniture and general swap-meet or garage sale style goods. No food, electronics or new items to be sold.

Mini Market Spaces are $35.00 for a 3m x 3m space. These spaces are for small business or hobby retailers looking to sell new products, hand made items or reconditioned vintage wares. This area is best for those retailers looking to sell items at market value prices. All mini market stall holders will require their own public and products liability insurance.

City of Joondalup Twilight Markets - Stallholder Expression of Interest

The Joondalup Twilight Markets will return to Central Walk, Joondalup in 2014 over five Friday evenings leading up to Christmas. If you are a stallholder who would like to be involved in this exciting event and can offer products such as gourmet food, fashion, jewellery, design, arts, crafts, homewares or giftwares, then the City would love to hear from you.

Subiaco Craft Collectibles and Community Fair Stallholder Callout

The Rotary Club of Matilda Bay is hosting its annual Subiaco Craft, Collectibles and Community Fair on Sunday 26 October 2014 at the Oak Lawn at the University of Western Australia. Mukinbudin Spring Festival Market Day

The Mukinbudin Spring Festival is the highlight of the Mukinbudin events calendar, with past festivals attracting up to 1000 people from all over the wheatbelt and beyond. The Mukinbudin Spring Festival Market Day will be held on Saturday 13 September, 2014 from 10am - 4pm.

After the Market Day finishes, everyone will move over the Sporting Complex and oval where there will be a helicopter “Lolly Drop”, a catered meal and bar with free entertainment and music. During the festival there are many activities including art workshops, tours of the local area (including the beautiful granite rock nature reserves), free entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show.

Stalls cost $10. Indoor and marquee positions are available to early registrations and will be allocated on a first in, first served basis. Limited power is provided, so if your stall is a heavy power user, you will need to provide your own power.
